Spring Brings a Slew of Social Media Recruiting Conferences
You can always tell when a new idea or technology starts to become mainstream. It seems that organizations and conferences seem to pop up ever where you look. This is certainly true with social media recruiting.
In the next eight weeks, there will be five major social media recruiting conferences held in the U.S. and U.K. This time last year, there may have been one. If you are a recruiter interested in social recruiting at any level, attending one of these events may be beneficial. You don’t have to be an expert. The topics covered at these events go from establishing a social recruiting strategy to best practices with individual social media platforms. Here is a look at what each event offers.
ERE Expo Spring 2010 – March 15-17, 2010 in San Diego, California
The ERE (Electronic Recruiting Exchange) Expo has been around for many years. This semi-annual event is not a 100% social media recruiting only event, but much of the content is social media geared. Some highlights of the expo include “Using Social Media to Attract and Engage Passive Candidates” presented by Starbuck’s Kat Drum, “Talent Attraction Successes at AT&T” and “Convert Your Corporate Recruiters into Darwinian Headhunters” with Lou Adler.

The spring event is being held at the Quintiles Corporate headquarters in Durham, NC. #recruitcamp bills itself as the local, unconference where social recruiters can get together to share best practices. Highlighted speakers include Punk Rock HR’s Laurie Ruettimann and is partnering with sponsor RecruitingBlogs.com and Jobs2Web.
