New Social Recruiting Tool Jibe Is Very Cool
Almost everyday a new site or tool aimed at changing the way social media recruitment is done is announced. Very infrequently do I get excited about these new tools, but today is different. The guys who previously brought us LocalBacon have beta launched their new effort called Jibe.
Jibe is the first tools I’ve seen that really takes good advantage of the Facebook Connect feature to bring value to the job search experience. Users join the site and connect their Facebook profile to the Jibe search engine. When a user views the available jobs, he/she will see who in their network of Facebook friends works at the company offering the jobs. I did a quick search and I know someone via my Facebook network at almost every one of the jobs Jibe has listed on beta. This means I solicate my friends’ support to get the job a referral. Or I can use my credits to apply directly to the jobs.
Credits? What’s that? When a user signs up with Jive, he/she is given (at least in beta) 200 credits to use to apply to jobs. Requiring credits to apply for a job makes sure that users don’t just spam all the opening with the hope someone decides to hire them Applying for the jobs I looked at cost 50 credits, so to start I can apply for four positions. If I want to apply for additional jobs, I can simply buy more credits at a rate of $4.95 for 200 credits or $9.95 for 600 credits.
Today there are not a ton of jobs available for application. However as the site comes out of beta, I’m sure there are going to be a lot of hiring companies who will buy into this model. It should be a pretty easily sell too. Who wouldn’t want to recruit using this tool? It’s like LinkedIn for the cool kids!
