WalmartCareers goes live on Twitter
May 3, 2010 at around 8 a.m. central time @WalmartCareers went live as the first official Walmart recruiting presence on the Twitter.com micro-blogging platform. The initiative seems to be headed by Walmart’s Mike Grennier.
Walmart follows several of its big box rivals in using the tool to recruit both retail and HQ staff. Best Buy, Target and Sears/Kmart have long used Twitter to disseminate job announcements. Of all the competitors, Kmart is the most active job tweeter. The company uses a corporate Twitter handle, a Kmart pharmacy jobs handle as well as TweetMyJobs.com to aggregate its retail openings nation-wide.
